How can I avoid scarring from a facelift?

How can I avoid scarring from a facelift? Are there topical creams that I will need to apply afterward to reduce any scarring

Answer:

It is inevitable that there will be scars after a facelift procedure because incisions will be made. The key is to have those scars be almost invisible. There are to key points to having facelift scars that are barely visible. One is the placement of the scars. The key here is to make the incisions in and around certain areas. For example, they should be hidden behind the tragus. The tragus is that small piece of cartilage in front of the ear. The incision should go right behind it so that the tragus hides the incision. Another important area is the incision behind the ear. Here, it should go into the hair, so that it is totally invisible. Some surgeons carry the incision in the hairline. This may not allow the woman to wear the hair up without showing the scar. The second key point to hiding the facelift scar is the closure of the skin. The skin should be closed without tension. This means that the «pulling» should all be done on the deeper facial tissues and muscles. The skin should then re-draped over the deeper tissues. The surgeon should then close the incisions without tension on the skin and with very small fine stitches. If the two key points are followed, the facelift incisions should heal and be invisible.
