I am a 65-year-old woman interested in an eyelift. Will my results be permanent? I only want to go through surgery once.
Answer:
The eyelift procedure, or blepharoplasty, is a procedure done to enhance the eyelids. It can be done on the upper eyelid to improve the droopy lid and it can also be done on the lower eyelid to improve the «bags.» Often, the procedure is done on all 4 eyelids at the same time. The procedure is done on an outpatient basis and can be done with either local anesthesia or intravenous anesthesia. It can also be combined with a facelift procedure. The upper blepharoplasty focuses on the excision of skin and a small amount of fat in the inner corner of the upper lid. The incision is hidden in the crease, so that t is completely hidden once it is healed. The lower blepahroplasty focuses on the removal of fat and a small amount of skin. The incision is placed just below the eyelashes, so that it is completely invisible once it is healed. Most patients that undergo the blepharoplasty procedure are extremely happy with the results. The results form the procedure should last a lifetime, so I do not think that you will need another eyelid surgery in your lifetime.
